Costa Rica literally means “Rich Coast” and although the country is beautiful no matter where you travel, The South Pacific area is truly one of the most incredibly beautiful places on earth. Once you are here it’s easy to understand the meaning of its name. The South Pacific is a place where whales come every year to birth their calves and where dolphins play and surf all day in the waves. Once you arrive it’s time to relax, take a deep breath and have an experience with nature. It’s time to disconnect from your normal world and reconnect with the new world around you.
Our Location
Pacific Edge Eco Lodge is 1 km off the highway, up the mountain, at an elevation of 600ft. There is a land marker, a yellow rock at the end of the mountain, that says Pacific Edge, 1KM up. Put your car in 4 wheel drive and start to make your way up. We are on the left side and you will see the Pacific Edge sign on your right and the green gate on your left. We are at the edge of primary rainforest and are visited frequently by capuchin and howler monkeys as well as toucans, parrots and all sorts of varieties of birds. We are five-ish minutes drive to Dominical town proper. We recommend renting a car, a 4×4, although we can arrange private transport for you should you prefer not to drive. A 4×4 is recommended for general ease in exploring the southern zone.
This area gives you the sense of being in the middle of nowhere and offers a fully equipped vacation destination. Not only are we surrounded with lush tropical rainforest and a glorious vast ocean but just minutes away we have two banks and atms, two grocery stores, a gas station, spas, pharmacies, restaurants, souvenir shops.
Here in Dominical, it is a small and charming surf town with lots of amazing restaurants, cafes and bars, clothing shops, yoga and wellness classes, dive shops and lots of surf. Uvita is a little town south of Dominical and is also lined with lots of restaurants, grocery and gift stores that are easily navigated by foot. From Uvita you can also access Marino Ballena National Park aka the Whale’s Tale, for some incredible beach time or sign up for the whale watching tours during season. A little further down the road is Ojochal, which has quickly developed a reputation for it’s fine cuisine and features a few hidden beaches that have become our families favorite spots. All three towns are just minutes from one another. This area makes for a convenient yet rural jungle destination that fulfills all of your adventure as well as personal needs. Beautiful beaches line the coast and are only minutes away from your cabina. Of course, Pacific Edge hosts a “Million dollar” sunsets every evening so sit back relax and enjoy the view.
